When coconut oil just isn’t enough…
When it comes to beauty products, I am very simple and natural. I use coconut oil…for EVERYTHING! Okay, that might be a little exaggeration. I wish I could use it for everything, but for those certain products that it just won’t cut it, I choose to go the non-toxic and organic route. I am not the greatest at using makeup, and deciding which beauty products are good or not for me. So, it’s important to me to have a company that I can trust and rely on for products I decide to start using.
For the past year, I have been using Beautycounter Shampoo and Conditioner, face lotion, hand soap and hand lotion, among a few other products. I love them and I feel confident that I am not harming my body when I use them. When it comes to cost, I usually go the cheapest route on everything, EXCEPT for my health.
Beautycounter is a company devoted to progress and providing safe products that we can trust. Beautycounter was created after Founder, Gregg Renfrew, learned that the personal care industry is not regulated and that companies are allowed to use harmful ingredients and make their own judgments about the safety of the products they create.
Last year my friend Bri introduced me to the EWG Healthy Living App. It’s a blessing in disguise, but also a dirty little devil. The app works by first, having you scan your beauty, shower, bathroom, and kitchen products. Then, it basically lets you know that ALL of the products you are using are extremely bad for you. At least that’s what happened in my case because I was naive about the products I was purchasing and always opted for the cheapest route. Shit! You now feel bad every time you put on that Hawaiian Tropic suntan lock moisturizer that smells so damn good…well at least I do.
A few of my goals for 2018 included taking care of my health, mind, and body. Switching to non-toxic and safe beauty products is one way I choose to take action to reach these goals.
My Beautycounter Collection [products I currently use and LOVE]:
- Nourishing Day Cream // $43
- Hand Wash in Citrus Mimosa // $26
- Hand Cream in Citrus Mimosa (pump) // $30
- Protect All Over Sunscreen SPF 30 // $32
My Beautycounter Holiday Wish List [I am moving back to San Diego, so sun protection products are high on my list]:
- Volumizing Mascara // $25
- Color Outline Eye Pencil (Violet) // $23
- Daily Detox Charcoal Set // $52
- Smooth & Control Travel Set // $22
To be honest, I really want to try almost every product that Beautycounter creates, but that would just end up being a super long list and blog post. So, these are my top seven to start.
I have partnered with Beautycounter to not only share healthier options for your daily beauty routines but to also HELP you make the switch in every way I can. I know it’s hard to just toss everything and start new, but you have to START somewhere, right?!
